On Marriage 결혼에 대하여
Then Almitra spoke again and said, "And what of Marriage, master?"
And he answered saying:
You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when white wings of death scatter your days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
사랑에 대한 이야기를 마치자 알미트라가 다시 물었다.
"스승이시여 결혼은 무엇인가요?"
그러자 그가 말하였다.
너희들은 함께 태어났으며 그리고 영원토록 함께 하리라.
죽음의 하얀 날개가 그대들의 삶을 흩어 놓을 때에도 너희는 함께 하리라.
그리고 신(神)의 고요한 기억 속에서도 너희는 영원히 함께 하리라.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
그러나 너희들이 서로의 몸과 마음을 함께 하되 거리를 두라.
그리하여 하늘의 바람이 그대들 사이에서 춤추게 하라.
서로 사랑하라.
그러나 그 사랑으로 구속하지는 말라.
그보다 그대 영혼의 나라들 속에서 출렁이는 바다가 되게 하라.
